I turned 'Steve' (my new Team Gregory car)'s engine off at 3.30am on Bank Holiday Monday morning, having just driven home from Stanstead Airport! My long training / competition trip to Bisley, Surrey - Bedford - Hannover, Germany was over! Devon, there's no place like home! Bank Holidays........................they're just another school day to me!
Upon reflection a successful trip all round. This time of year is my 'training period'. I've changed a number of technical aspects to my technique and this is the time to get used to those changes. So I am having to understand that to make leaps forwards in my performances, I have to step sideways whilst I learn these points. Therefore come later on in my competition year, my performance will be peaking at my targeted competitions - the World Championships in Munich, Aug and the Commonwealth Games, Oct.
Hannover was a great competition, beautifully run and a great experience. The competition highlighted areas of my technique that needs further training and other aspects that have been learnt well.
I'm now back in Devon for two weeks, where some hardcore training is happening. All before heading to Bisley for a few training days enroute to America. I will be competing at the Ft. Benning World Cup in Georgia. A competition I am very much looking forward to. Has anyone got any advise about Georgia in May/June??
I'm the guest of honour at the Okehampton Hockey Club Awards Evening on saturday!
